Get Into The Holiday Season

The holidays are officially here! This is my most favorite time of the year because there is so much you can do creatively and TONS to be thankful for. Going to shows, baking, holiday crafting, touring christmas lights, hanging out with friends and family... hold your head up and purpose in your heart to celebrate the gift of LIFE this holiday season.

One of my favorite events here in Colorado is Denver Arts Week and it starts today!. All of the art communities come together and host several events over an eight day period. One of the things I'm looking forward to trying out is Denver Arts Week free night at the museum not to mention Denver Film Festival. Shuttle buses will be available for anyone who wants to check out Denver Museums.

Also coming up this month is "Single's Day". Yep, that's right Single's Day. Singles Day 11/11 was started in China among young people who proud to celebrate the fact that they are single...I like that idea! Alibaba.com see…

Coloring Review #1 Faber-Castell Polychromos

For years, I have used Prismacolor colored pencils.
I have been interested in trying other color pencils, so for the summer of 2016,
I began testing other brands of colored pencils.
Faber-Castell was one of those brands. First up, Faber-Castells Polychromos. Polychromos, meaning many colors, is a oil based pencil. I choose Faber-Castell because with their polychromos pencils you can use in conjunction with the other Faber-Castell line. Faber-Castells are also open stock, I'm able to replenish based on what I need. The downside...they are expensive. The pigments are rich and intense, the blending and layering are smooth and I had no smudging. For detailing I used the Faber-Castell Pitt artist marker, Pilot gold marker and Signo white gel pen.

Coloring Review #2 Staedler Colored Pencils and Triplus Fineliners

Coloring Review #2 - Staedtler Noris Colour Pencils and Triplus Fineliner Pens. Both recommended by Johanna Basford.
The Staedler Noris Colour Pencils were my first colored pencils I would try after using Prismacolor Pencils for many years. My first impression of the Colour Pencils is that they were easy to handle, they were comfortable to hold. The 24 set had a nice range of color. The Fineliners worked well with the color pencils. Positive first impression until.... Compared to the Prismacolor Pencils, The Staedler Noris Colour pencils are not as smooth. It was difficult to blend the colors and I had to apply quite a bit of pressure to get a blend. Unfortunately, the pressure caused the paper to tear. The Staedler Noris Colour pencils would not be my personal pick over the Prismacolor pencils. The Fineliner pens were great to work with. Supplies:
