Have extra greeting cards?

Ever have a few cards left from a box set?
Here's an idea to turn those extra cards into ornaments.
You'll need: cards, ruler, x-acto knife,  paper fasteners split pins, string, hot glue and embellishments.

Measure out 1/2" or 1" across the top and bottom of the greeting card.
For a clean cut, use an x-acto knife to cut into strips.

Punch a whole at the top and bottom of each strip.

Keeping the strips in order, put the paper fasteners split pins through one side,
then fold the strips to create a loop. Spread the loops in the shape of a wheel.

This part of the ornament you can use items that you like best.
You will need string to hang the ornament.
For the embellishments, I've chose curly ribbon and a black button.
On one side, I hot glued the ribbon and on the other side I hot glued the button.

I like being able to see the original card in a puzzle like form.

It's your choice to hang on the tree or just as home decor.

Hope you have found this DIY helpful and inspiring.
You could use this project on any card you may have around.

Hope your Christmas is Merry and Bright.

Brown Paper Packaging Tied Up...

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with string
These are a few of my favorite things!

Brown paper packaging with simple decorations are a different way to gift wrap your presents this year. Try using brown paper instead of expensive wrapping paper.

Here's something different with ornaments #2

Once an ornament now wall decoration.

Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree had so many beautiful ornaments this year that I could not pass up. The thought behind these creations was to combine a few ornaments into one. I love how all of these turnout. Some of the ornament are from past After-Christmas sales from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Dollar Tree.

Here's something different with ornaments #1

Black and Silver Ornament Gift Box

Black and Silver Ornament Box

Alphabet box, silver bulbs, silver ribbons, black santa boots, black top hat, black krylon paint
Dollar Tree has come out with some cute and elegant ornaments this year.
I had in mind to re-purpose a box I got from Unique Thrift Store. I chose silver and black for my color palette.
Children alphabet box and black krylon paint
Black box
Because of the slick surface, I had to use primer before spraying the box black.
3 coats of spray paint.
silver glitter
I used modge podge and silver glitter to create the ribbon on the sides of the box.
black santa boots and silver glitter bow
black santa boots, silver bulb, black snowman hat, and silver glitter bow
I added the ornaments to the lid of the box.
